Terms of Service
1. Agreement and operator
These Terms govern your use of the Pawpal iOS app. The operator is JoCoding, Inc., a Delaware corporation. For questions, contact mu07010@jocoding.net. Registered address: 1111B S Governors Ave, STE 80543, Dover, DE 19904, United States. Telephone: +1 (231) 450-5622. Website: jocoding.io.
2. The service
Pawpal connects two people โ including couples, long-distance partners, friends, and family โ through one shared virtual dog. A user writes text or a drawing, sends a letter, and the dog carries it to the connected person. The connection is one-to-one; Pawpal is not a public social network, chat feed, marketplace, or dating service.
3. Eligibility and age
Pawpal is intended for people 16 or older worldwide. It is not directed at children under 16, and the app does not currently verify age at sign-up. You must also be able to enter a binding agreement under the law that applies to you.
4. Account and Apple connection
Pawpal creates an anonymous account on its own server for the app session and asks you to link an Apple account through Sign in with Apple. The Apple link is intended to help recover the same Pawpal account after reinstalling or changing device. You are responsible for the security of your device and Apple account. Do not share an invite code with someone you do not intend to connect with.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Pawpal to:
- send illegal, threatening, harassing, hateful, abusive, or sexually exploitative content;
- impersonate a person or misrepresent a relationship;
- access another user's account, connection, letter, or invite code without permission;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, interfere with, or evade the app's security and rate limits; or
- break a law or infringe another person's rights.
6. Your letters and privacy boundary
You keep ownership of your letters and drawings. You give Pawpal only the technical permission needed to store and transmit them to your connected person. The app does not place letter text in a widget or APNs payload. Ordinary users cannot read another connection through the app, but restricted service-role and server paths can process data needed for delivery, account deletion, and report handling. The service-role path can read report snapshots for safety operations.
7. Reports, blocking, and moderation
You can report an opened letter. The current app sends the fixed report category inappropriate; it does not ask for a free-form reason. A successful report immediately blocks the other person, ends the connection, and saves a snapshot of the reported letter (text and/or drawing) with the report record. The original connection data is then removed. The service-role path can read that snapshot for safety operations. Pawpal does not provide pre-delivery or continuous human moderation.
Moderation limitation. Pawpal has no public content feed and no human moderator reviewing every letter before delivery. Email mu07010@jocoding.net with the relevant account details if you need to challenge a restriction or report outcome.
8. Availability and device surfaces
The app is built for iOS 26 or later. Widgets and Live Activities depend on iOS, APNs, the user's widget installation, Live Activity setting, network, and available device tokens. Pawpal does not request standard notification authorization and cannot guarantee that a system-controlled widget refresh or Live Activity will appear at a particular time. The service is provided as available and may change or be discontinued.
9. Price, digital content, and withdrawal
Pawpal is free to download and use. The shiba dog is included. Other dog breeds are optional in-app purchases: each "Unlock a Breed" purchase is a one-time consumable that adds one unlock credit to your account, and spending a credit unlocks one breed for the pet you share with your partner. There is no subscription and no external payment flow. The price is shown in the App Store purchase sheet before you confirm, and Apple charges it to your Apple Account. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com); if Apple refunds a purchase, the corresponding unlock is removed. Unlocks are stored on your Pawpal account, so signing in with the same Apple ID on another device keeps them; "Restore purchases" in the breed picker re-syncs a purchase that did not finish. Deleting your account deletes its unlocks, and a purchase cannot be moved to a different Pawpal account. Where a paid online consumer contract is subject to the EU Consumer Rights Directive, the ordinary 14-day withdrawal right applies unless you expressly agree to immediate delivery of the digital content and acknowledge that you thereby lose that right.
10. Intellectual property
Pawpal's name, software, artwork, room, dog, widget, and documentation belong to their respective rights holders. You may use them only through the app and these Terms. Your letter and drawing remain yours, subject to the limited technical license in section 6.
11. Suspension, termination, and deletion
We may restrict or terminate access when needed to protect people, the service, or legal rights. Where required, we will give a reason and a way to challenge the decision. You can disconnect, block, or delete your account in Settings. Account deletion is permanent; see the Privacy Policy for the current data deletion and report-snapshot behavior.
12. Changes and governing law
Material changes will be posted here in advance. Korean consumer-facing changes will use the legally required notice period; materially unfavorable changes will receive at least 30 days' notice where required. These Terms use the laws of the Republic of Korea, without removing mandatory consumer protections in the country where you live. EU/EEA users should read the dedicated EU/EEA terms.
13. Disputes and complaints
First contact mu07010@jocoding.net. Korean users may use the consumer dispute-resolution bodies available under Korean law. EU/EEA users may contact their national consumer or digital-services authority, or a certified alternative-dispute-resolution body where one is available in their country. Privacy complaints may be made to the relevant national supervisory authority; the European Data Protection Board publishes information about the EU supervisory network.
